Quick Answer

Group NPCs, plots, maps, and encounters into a campaign so everything for an adventure lives in one place. From the Dashboard click Create Campaign, give it a name, then assign content to it during generation or from any saved item's detail page.

Campaigns group related content together so you can find everything for an adventure without searching your entire library. In Simple Mode they're called Adventures; in Expert Mode they're called Campaigns.

Creating a campaign

From your dashboard, click Create Campaign (or Create Adventure in Simple Mode).

Required:

  • Name — give it something you'll recognize at a glance

Optional:

  • Description — brief summary of the adventure
  • Tags — keywords for searching later (e.g., "urban", "dungeon", "level 1-5")
  • Party Level — your group's average level; affects encounter and plot suggestions
  • Party Size — number of players

Click Create and the campaign appears on the dashboard.

Adding content to a campaign

From the campaign page:

  1. Open the campaign from the dashboard or campaigns list.
  2. Click Add Content.
  3. Select items from your library (NPCs, plots, maps, encounters, and more).
  4. Click Add Selected.

You can select multiple items before clicking Add Selected.

From a content detail page:

  1. Open any content item.
  2. Scroll to the Associated Campaigns section.
  3. Click Add to Campaign and select the campaign.

The same content can belong to multiple campaigns. A recurring NPC can appear in several adventures without duplication.

Removing content

Removing an item from a campaign does not delete it from your library. It stays accessible for other campaigns.

  1. Open the campaign.
  2. Find the item and click the trash icon next to it.
  3. Confirm the removal.

Alternatively, use bulk operations: enter select mode on the campaign page, select multiple items, and choose Remove from Campaign from the Batch Actions menu.

Content layout by mode

Expert Mode shows content in tabs: NPCs, Plots, Maps, Encounters (and other content types as you add them).

Simple Mode shows the same content in collapsible sections with beginner-friendly labels: Characters, Stories, Locations, Battles.

Switch modes any time from Settings or the user menu.

Dashboard integration

Active campaign selector

The Session Context Bar at the top of the dashboard lets you set an active campaign. When a campaign is active, the Quick Generate buttons automatically pass that campaign ID to each generator — content you generate goes straight into the campaign without extra steps.

To generate content without attaching it to a campaign, set the selector back to All Campaigns.

Pinning campaigns

Pin your current campaign so it appears first on the dashboard:

  1. Open the campaign detail page.
  2. Click the pin icon in the header.

Pinned campaigns don't affect how your library is filtered — they just sort to the top.

Exporting campaigns to PDF

PDF export packages your campaign content into a formatted document you can print or share. Export is available on Pro and above.

  1. Open the campaign detail page.
  2. Click Export PDF.
  3. Choose which content types to include.
  4. Click Export — the PDF downloads automatically.

Large campaigns (50+ items) may take 10–15 seconds. PDFs are formatted for standard 8.5" × 11" paper.

Deleting a campaign

Deleting a campaign removes it from your list but does not delete any content inside it. All items remain in your library. Campaign deletion cannot be undone — the organization is gone, though you can recreate the campaign and re-add content.

Frequently asked questions

Can the same content appear in multiple campaigns? Yes. Add the same NPC or plot to as many campaigns as you like.

Can I share a campaign with another GM? Not yet. Campaign sharing is planned for a future update.

How many items can a campaign hold? There is no limit. Performance is optimized for campaigns with 100+ items.

Troubleshooting

"Campaign tier limit reached" — You've hit the campaign limit for your plan. Delete an unused campaign or upgrade to Pro for unlimited campaigns.

Content not appearing after adding — Refresh the page. The item may still be in your library if it was added but not yet reflected in the cache.

PDF export times out — Try exporting a smaller selection. Reduce the number of content types included, or try again shortly if the server is under load.
